This project is about interesting people, from interesting places, doing interesting things today in Northern Ireland. It is funded by the Shared History Fund.
Did you know there’s a Californian ecstatic to call Northern Ireland home and likes a pint of Guinness or three? We did!
Meet me, Michael Avila, Founder and Director of AvilaMedia and the ‘Here-ish’ project. The video really says it all, so I’ll keep this brief.
All I really want to say is I am deeply grateful to be Here-ish and to call Northern Ireland home. I’m glad I have successfully “traded the weather for the craic!” I mean this when I say it – people from Northern Ireland are some of the best in the world. You have made it extremely easy and worthwhile to make a home here.
While this is the end of the first leg of the ‘Here-ish’ project, there will be more stories to come in the future, so stay tuned!
I want to say a final thank you to Maciek Bator for his excellent work behind the camera, to Rashid Khaidanov for the excellent photography and exhibition he put together, to all my friends and family here and back home in the United States who have supported me so much over the years, and to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for making this project possible.
We look forward to seeing you HERE again soon!

Good on yas
