This project is about interesting people, from interesting places, doing interesting things today in Northern Ireland. It is funded by the Shared History Fund.
Northern Ireland has now been around for 100 years. While we’re no doubt aware of the many ‘locals’ that have made this place famous for its immense craic and world class hospitality, there are more stories to be told. Many more people, from many more places, have become locals here over this time, and have made this country the thriving place it is today – and that’s exactly what this series is about.
As ‘not-so-local, locals’ ourselves, we are immensely proud of this place, its amazing people and what Northern Ireland offers the world. We’re proud to be here – and we’re not the only ones.
Whether its surfers, world class photographers, tattoo artists, athletes, diplomats, cooks or street artists, you’ll be hearing from all of them and more over this series, with interesting, Northern Irish stories to tell.
We’ll certainly be asking them the compulsory questions, such as: “Was da craic, like” and “Bout ye, big lad?!” But we’ll also be asking them about what this place means to them; what it offers them; what they offer it; how is it the same or different to where they’re from; and where it all goes from here. Most importantly, we want to ascertain just how here-ish they feel today.
There’s much more to come from the ‘Here-ish’ project, so stay tuned and remember:
We’ll be seeing you here soon!
